History
Coronado Gas Co-op
Coronado Gas Co-op Ltd. comprises two separate natural gas co-ops that amalgamated in June of 1989: North Edmonton Gas Co-op Ltd., incorporated in 1966, and Coronado Gas Co-op Ltd., incorporated in 1972. Since its inception, Coronado Gas Co-op Ltd., its directors and staff have continued to employ the original values of the Rural Utilities directive; member-owned utilities built on volunteered time and resources through the cooperation of friends and neighbours, dedicated to keeping the benefits of a member-owned organization in the community.
Currently serving a franchise area of 148 square miles situated between Redwater and Gibbons, Coronado Gas Co-op Ltd. is responsible for providing natural gas service to over 939 members. The infrastructure established in the 1970’s continues to grow and evolve to support new members, businesses, farming operations, and several high-volume operations.
The Board of Directors, composed of 7 elected positions, oversees the Co-op’s overall operations and governs Co-op policy in the best interests of the membership and the community, while striving to stay abreast of the latest advancements in safety and technology.
Coronado Gas Co-op Ltd. will continue to seek opportunities for growth and development within the community while preserving the founding ideology and spirit of the member-owned utility through its ownership.
